Meet Ally!
Born and raised in Minnesota, Ally is wife to Simon, mom to 6-month-old James Penn, and dog mom to Moss, their spirited 3-year-old pup. After college in Durango, CO, and seven years in Chicago, Ally returned to the Twin Cities, where she spent over a decade building a career in HR and recruiting for tech companies. Now, she’s excited to bring her passion for people and connection into a whole new arena—teaching Mahj!
Ally first learned the game from her sister-in-law Sara and mother-in-law Francine and was instantly hooked—so much so that she and her husband often keep a set out, ready for a quick game of Siamese. She’s especially thrilled that her identical twin, Abby, is also learning to play.
When she’s not sharing Mahj magic, you’ll find Ally on family walks around the neighborhood, cheering on Minnesota sports, working out, or discovering a new happy hour or restaurant (always with a latte in hand—hot or iced depending on the season). She can’t wait to spread her love of the game and help build community, one tile at a time!
